Dr. Gillian Roehrig, Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Science Education at the University of Minnesota, will demonstrate several novel ways to engage students, including Concept Mapping, Photo-Elicitation Interviews (PEI’s), and the use of Socio-scientific Issues (SSI’s). The conversation will include a focus on interdisciplinary topics in a STEM context. This event is being partially sponsored/funded by the Visitng Women & Minority Lecture/Scholar Series (VWMLS) which is funded by a grant to Institutional Equity and Inclusion from the State of Michigan's King-Chavez-Parks Initiativeand is jointly sponsored by the Department of Cognitive Learning Sciences and the William G. Jackson Center for Teaching and Learning.  

ll faculty and instructional staff are encouraged to attend.
